Some writers receive their calling in childhood, and chart their course from there. I received mine at a rather more inconvenient life stage: while I was in first-year medical school.
Growing up, reading and writing fiction had always been my first love. My second just happened to be performing dissections in biology class. And because my scientific inclinations received just a smidge more encouragement from guidance counsellors, teachers, parents, random people on the street…well, you can see how these things happen.
But it wasn’t a mistake going to medical school. Throughout my years as a medical student and a resident I continued writing. That’s because: no matter what path one chooses, no matter how sensible and practical, a burning desire to write can never be fully quashed.
I am now an author, a doctor, and a mom.
My first novel was published in June 2013, and the sequels were released in June 2014, and June 2015.
My YA debut, GAME OF SECRETS, will be published in Fall 2017 by Sky Pony/Skyhorse Publishing in NYC.
